Apple Upcoming iPad in The Future of AI Powered Devices

PUBLISHED: April 28, 2024 at 3:17 pm

As the tech giant, Apple Inc., gears up for its product launch event on May 7, speculations are rife about the new innovations in store. Of particular interest is the rumored focus on advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities in the new iPads.

On the scheduled date, Apple is expected to unveil its latest products, including new models of the iPad Pro and iPad Air, along with a keyboard and a Pencil. However, the wider release of the Apple Vision Pro is not anticipated at this event.

Many experts had forecasted that Apple’s AI features would be announced in June at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), followed by the full release in September with the iPhone 16 series. But recent reports hint at a potential surprise.

Apple iPad Pro 2022 – will this year’s model be all about AI?

According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, in his Power On newsletter, the new iPad Pro will initiate Apple’s transition into AI hardware.

The integration of the next-generation Apple processors, specifically the Apple M4, in the next iPad Pro could bolster the device’s AI capabilities. This is an unusual move, as the last processor unveiling was in October with the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips.

Gurman suggests that the new iPad Pro will be powered by the M4 chip and not the M3. He further implies that Apple will market the tablet as its first genuine AI-powered device.

The shift toward AI is a response to the AI frenzy that has taken the tech industry by storm in recent years.

  1. AI-powered Devices
  2. AI-based Services
  3. AI-focused Strategies

The above trends offer a glimpse into the future of technology, where AI is at the forefront.

Despite the rumors about the M4 chip, it’s worth noting that the existing M3 chip is believed to be powerful enough to support Apple’s AI strategy.

If Gurman’s speculations hold, each new product from Apple, starting from the new iPad Pro, will be marketed as an AI device. This change is expected to redefine the tech industry’s landscape.

The introduction of the new iPad Pro ahead of the WWDC could enable Apple to outline its AI chip strategy without any distractions.

The “Let Loose” tagline associated with the launch event hints at significant innovations.

At the WWDC, Apple could concentrate on how the M4 chip and new iPad Pros will leverage the AI software and services coming as part of iPadOS 18 later this year.

In addition to the iPads, Apple is expected to position the A18 chip in the iPhone 16 line as built around AI.
