Bodycam footage of Davie police shooting released

DAVIE, FLORIDA – As per Davie police reports, a man named Steven Amann was fatally shot by the officers. The incident happened at a residence on Southwest 24th Street. The scene were captured on a body-worn camera by one of the officers, which was later released by the authorities.

The police were initially at the scene for a medical call. As officers were attending to a patient, they were confronted by Amann. The interaction between Amann and the officers started off calmly. However, Amann was mostly nonverbal and did not respond to the queries of the officers.

Amann reached behind his back and retreated towards a concealed area. He then suddenly assumed a shooting stance and pointed an object at the officers. This sudden movement and the perceived threat led the officers to shoot Amann.

Immediately after the shooting, medical personnel attended to Amann and transported him to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead.

Three officers from the Davie Police Department were involved in the shooting: Sergeant Steve Lambert, Officer Matthew Correa, and Officer Jarrett Wheeler. As per standard procedure, all three officers have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The footage captured by the body camera of one of the officers was released by the authorities on the following Monday. The video provides a first-person perspective of the incident, including the actions of Amann and the responses of the officers.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. They will determine whether the use of lethal force was justified under the circumstances.
