The incident occurred earlier this week when Mariah Thomas, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, mistakenly placed her newborn baby daughter in the oven instead of the crib. According to authorities, Thomas was putting the child down for a nap when she accidentally placed her in the oven. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the 1-month-old baby was found in the living room lying in a car seat just inside the front door. She had sustained thermal injuries on various parts of her body and was clothed in a bodysuit over a diaper, which appeared to have melted onto the diaper. Additionally, a baby blanket with significant burn marks was found on the property.

Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kansas City Fire Department, which also responded to the incident, confirmed the tragic outcome. Mariah Thomas now faces a Class A felony of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree, Death of a Child.
