The iconic Pixies have recently disclosed a significant change in their band lineup. Paz Lenchantin, their long-standing bassist, has made her decision to part ways with the band. In her place, Emma Richardson will be stepping in.
Lenchantin had been a crucial member of the Pixies since 2014, stepping in after the departure of Kim Shattuck. Her decade-long tenure with the Pixies witnessed her contributions to three major albums, namely, Head Carrier, Beneath the Eyrie, and Doggerel, the latter being released in 2022.
The Pixies made a public announcement regarding Lenchantin’s exit, expressing their gratitude for her contributions to the band. They stated, “Lenchantin has exited the band to concentrate on her own projects. We are grateful for Paz’s contributions, and wish her all the best going forward.”

Following the announcement of Lenchantin’s departure, the Pixies have welcomed Emma Richardson as their new bassist. Richardson, who was previously a part of the Band of Skulls, will make her debut as the bassist of Pixies during their upcoming European tour.
Richardson had been a prominent member of Band of Skulls until her departure in 2022, after contributing to five albums. The same year, she collaborated with Russell Marsden on Marsden & Richardson, which was released as a duo.
The Pixies have an extensive tour lined up for 2024. Their European tour will witness Richardson’s debut as their bassist, starting with three shows at the Olympia in Dublin. The band will also be performing at the Albert Hall in Manchester and London’s Kentish Town Forum.
This summer, the Pixies will be making their return to various festivals, including Victorious in Portsmouth and All Points East in London. Tickets for their upcoming tour dates are available for purchase online.
