Caroline Manzo Takes on Brandi Glanville and Bravo for Sexual Harassment

PUBLISHED: January 27, 2024 at 5:38 pm

Former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Caroline Manzo has filed a lawsuit against Bravo and its affiliated companies over allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct during the filming of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” in Morocco. The lawsuit also implicates fellow cast member Brandi Glanville.

According to court documents obtained by various media outlets, Manzo claims that Glanville engaged in inappropriate and non-consensual behavior during the filming of the show. The allegations include forcible kissing, groping of Manzo’s vagina and breasts, and an incident where Glanville allegedly held Manzo down on a couch while humping her. These actions left Manzo feeling violated and distressed, as they reminded her of past traumatic experiences.

Manzo’s lawsuit not only targets Glanville but also holds Bravo and its affiliated companies responsible for allowing the alleged harassment to occur. The court documents state that the network regularly encourages the cast members to consume alcohol to the point of severe intoxication and then directs or allows them to sexually harass one another for the sake of ratings. Manzo asserts that Bravo was aware of Glanville’s history of sexual misconduct but still hired her and even encouraged her to engage in outrageous and harassing acts by getting drunk on set.

Glanville, through her representative, denies the allegations made by Manzo. The representative states that Glanville followed the instructions given by the producers during filming and maintains her innocence regarding the alleged sexual assault. The representative further expresses disappointment over the lack of support from Peacock, Shed, or Bravo, and highlights the impact the accusations have had on Glanville’s mental and physical health.

Bravo and NBCUniversal have yet to respond directly to the allegations made in Manzo’s lawsuit. However, in a previous statement regarding the incident, the network emphasized its commitment to the safety and security of the cast and crew during filming. They assured that they take all reports seriously and launched a comprehensive review of the situation. The outcome of this review and any subsequent actions by the network have not been disclosed.

Interestingly, this is not the first lawsuit involving Glanville and allegations of sexual harassment on the set of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.” Last year, a butler sued Bravo, claiming that Glanville had sexually harassed and abused him during filming in Massachusetts. The butler’s lawsuit also implicated Bravo, alleging that they allowed, condoned, and even encouraged Glanville’s inappropriate behavior.

By filing this lawsuit, Manzo aims to hold Bravo and its affiliated companies accountable for their alleged role in the harassment and to discourage them from prioritizing ratings and profits over the safety and well-being of their cast members. Her attorney emphasizes the need for reality TV to address the severe emotional and physical harm that talent often experiences. Manzo hopes that her legal action will bring about necessary changes in the industry.

The court documents highlight the emotional toll that the alleged sexual assault has taken on Manzo. The incident triggered past traumatic memories, leaving her in a state of shock. Manzo’s lawsuit seeks to not only address the immediate harm caused by Glanville’s alleged actions but also to acknowledge the long-lasting effects of such incidents on the victims.

With the lawsuit filed, the legal process will now unfold. Both sides will present their arguments and evidence, and a jury will ultimately determine the outcome. It remains to be seen how Bravo, Glanville, and the network’s affiliated companies will respond formally to the lawsuit and what steps they may take to address the allegations made by Manzo.

The public response to the lawsuit has been mixed, with some expressing support for Manzo’s decision to take legal action while others remain skeptical or await further information. The case has reignited discussions surrounding the culture of reality TV shows and the treatment of cast members, particularly in relation to issues of consent and the responsibility of networks in ensuring the well-being of their talent.
