However, recent reports indicate that the $3,500 device is causing users unexpected discomfort, with complaints of black eyes, headaches, and neck pain proliferating among users.

Apple’s Vision Pro, a high-end headset promising to transport users into immersive virtual and augmented reality experiences, was unveiled to the public with considerable fanfare early in February. This device, costing a substantial $3,500, was met with anticipation and intrigue by tech enthusiasts across the globe.

However, the initial excitement quickly turned into dismay as users started to report various health issues linked to the use of the device. Among the most common complaints were black eyes, severe headaches, and neck pain.

Emily Olman, a marketing executive at California-based real estate photography firm Hopscotch International, told MarketWatch reported receiving two “super dark black eyes” after her first experience with the Vision Pro. Olman attributed the bruising to the headset’s weight, which she found to be excessively heavy on her cheeks.

Ian Beacraft, CEO of consulting firm Signal, also reported discomfort after using the device for an extended period. He complained of pain in his upper back and at the base of his skull after a two-hour session with the Vision Pro.

Reddit, a popular platform for tech discussions, saw a surge of users sharing similar experiences. One user reported constant headaches since they started using the device, while another described their time with the gadget as a “torture session,” causing “extreme headaches” and “extreme discomfort” after just 10 minutes of usage.

When approached for comment, Apple declined to address specific user experiences. Instead, the tech giant pointed to its official product guidelines, which recommend users take a break every 20 to 30 minutes during the initial period of use.

The distressing reports from Vision Pro users bring to light the potential health hazards associated with the use of AR/VR technology. This incident calls for a more comprehensive evaluation of the safety measures and guidelines associated with such devices.

As the tech world continues to evolve at a rapid pace, it’s crucial for companies like Apple to ensure the safety of their products. While technological advancements are exciting, they should not come at the detriment of user health and comfort.
