Judge returns to work after attack in Las Vegas court
A Nevada judge returned to court a day after being attacked by the defendant in an aggravated battery case. The incident was captured on video.
He was accused of moving to the judge's bench and "supermanning" him after it became clear he was being sentenced to prison, a court official said Thursday.
According to Chief Judge Jerry Wiese, defendant Deobra Redden will face Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus again Monday morning for her rescheduled sentencing.
At a news conference Thursday, Wiese shared a statement from Holthus, who was thrown back from her seat against a wall when the defendant landed on top of her and grabbed her hair, dropping an American flag on them. Courthouse officials said Holthus suffered some injuries and was evaluated but not hospitalized.
