Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve their communities. Unfortunately, sometimes they encounter dangerous situations that result in injuries. One such incident occurred in Washington, DC, where three police officers were injured during a standoff with a suspect involved in an animal cruelty case. The incident unfolded on a seemingly ordinary Wednesday morning when officers from the Metropolitan Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a suspect for cruelty to animals. Around 7:30 a.m., as the officers approached the suspect's residence located on the 5000 block of Hanna Place, shots rang out. Three officers were hit by gunfire, sustaining injuries.
