Ezekiel Elliott, the two-time NFL rushing champion, has officially rejoined the Dallas Cowboys. His return comes after a year-long stint with the New England Patriots, and the anticipation surrounding his comeback is palpable.
Ezekiel Elliott is no stranger to the Dallas Cowboys. Having spent the majority of his career with the team, his familiarity with the organization is evident.
“It feels great to be home,” said the former two-time NFL rushing champ. “I definitely missed being here. I missed this building. I missed Cowboys’ nation. I’m definitely excited and ready to get this thing going.”
While Elliott may be returning to a familiar environment, the dynamics within the team have significantly changed. The running backs room, which Elliott was once familiar with, now hosts new faces.
Among the new additions, Rico Dowdle stands out. He has ascended to a complementary role alongside Elliott, showcasing his talent with his hard-hitting style of play.
“Rico definitely had a great year last year — finally got his health together,” Elliott said. “He runs the ball super hard, and that’s something I love about his game. It’ll be fun to play with Rico [again] this year.”
Ezekiel Elliott’s return to the Dallas Cowboys is not just about his physical capabilities on the field. As an eight-year veteran, he brings invaluable experience to the team, both on and off the field.
“Just being in this league for as long as I have been, and being comfortable with who I am, and having as many reps as I have, I can focus on bringing other guys along and help them find their way,” said Elliott.
Ezekiel Elliott’s career statistics speak for themselves. He has consistently proven himself to be a prolific running back.
In his one-year stint with the Patriots, Elliott demonstrated that he still has plenty to offer. Despite only starting five games, he amassed nearly 1,000 yards from scrimmage and scored five touchdowns.
“Just showing I can be a starter in this league,” he said of his time in New England. “I can still play at a high level. I’m [going to] continue that here.”
Ezekiel Elliott has already made his mark in the Dallas Cowboys’ history books. He ranks third in franchise history in rushing yards, average rushing yards per game, and average yards per carry. But it’s clear that he’s not ready to rest on his laurels.
“I’ve always prided myself on being an all-around back, back there. Not just running with the ball but [also] protecting the quarterback and catching the ball out of the backfield.”
