In the heart of Brazil, a woman has been taken into custody on suspicion of trying to procure a loan under dubious circumstances. The accused, Érika de Souza Vieira Nunes, is believed to have made an attempt to use her deceased uncle’s identity to get loan approval at a local bank.
As per the video evidence released by G1, Nunes can be seen seated in a bank booth with her hand behind the man. The man’s head keeps falling back, and his hands rest motionless on his leg. Nunes appears to be speaking to him while holding a pen in her other hand, with the documents laid out on the table in front of them.
She can be heard urging him to sign the documents. In certain parts of the video, she is seen tapping his chin, seemingly trying to elicit a response from him. However, the man remains unresponsive except when Nunes moves his head or when his head topples backward.
Bank employees became suspicious when they observed that the man had no color in his face, a common sign of death. The staff alerted the police, who apprehended Nunes at the scene. She was later charged with theft by fraud and abuse of a corpse, according to multiple reports.
In the wake of these allegations, the woman’s family lawyer issued a statement denying the claims of alleged fraud. As per the lawyer, the man was alive when they arrived at the bank. The lawyer also mentioned that Nunes was highly distressed and under medication.
However, medical examination reports suggested otherwise. The autopsy report revealed that the man had died lying down and had been deceased for several hours at the time of the bank incident.
