According to an NYPD chief, New York City police are requesting assistance from the public in locating a man who is wanted for several stabbings in Queens.
A 34-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted on Tuesday just after midnight close to 158 Street and 134th Avenue, according to police department officials.
The woman was heading home when an unidentified person approached her from behind, according to the NYPD. The perpetrator fled on foot eastward along 134th Avenue after stabbing the victim on the right side of her torso with a knife, according to the police.
According to authorities, the person is in stable condition after being brought to a nearby hospital.

According to a press release from the NYPD, the suspect is a man who is around 5 feet 9 inches tall and has a medium complexion. According to the authorities, he was last seen with a blue mask, black shoes, black pants, and a dark gray jacket on.
The suspect was captured on camera by NYPD Crime Stoppers on Wednesday morning, and they stated that he is wanted in connection with other similar incidents.
The NYPD wrote on its official X account, “The individual pictured below is WANTED for four unprovoked stabbing incidents that occurred in the Rochdale Village area of Queens.”

“New York, we need your immediate help!” Jeffrey Maddrey, the chief department of the NYPD, posted on X. “This person is wanted in Queens for multiple stabbing incidents. He must be stopped because someone knows who he is.”

According to data from the New York City Police Department, 2020 saw the highest number of homicides since 2011 among other violent crimes. Since then, city officials have bragged about the decrease in crime.
In a Jan. 3 public safety speech, Mayor Eric Adams highlighted crime decreases, citing a 25% decline in gunshots and a 12% fall in killings between 2022 and 2023.
Although there has been a decline in crime since the epidemic, some crimes remain significantly higher, including as homicides, which increased by 21% at the end of 2018 compared to 2019. This is according to NYPD data. Thefts of motor vehicles have almost tripled, while robberies and felonies assaults have increased by 26% and 35%, respectively.
According to a July Siena College Research Institute poll, almost two-thirds of New Yorkers indicated they were worried about becoming the next victim of a crime and that they considered crime to be a severe problem in their neighborhoods. Over 40% of people thought that a stranger’s actions in public threatened them.
