A Nashville man was jailed Saturday morning after his missing wife was found buried in DeKalb County.
Joseph Glynn, 70, has been jailed on a charge of criminal homicide in the death of his wife, Jackie Glynn, 76, on New Year’s Day, according to Metro Nashville Police. On Friday, her body was exhumed on family property in Smithville, more than an hour and a half southeast of Nashville.
Preliminary police investigation suggests that Joseph hit Jackie on the head with a hammer inside his Green Hills home and buried her in a vehicle the next day. Police say Glynn made a confession.

Glynn allegedly told his wife’s children that he had decided to leave because he was terminally ill, police said. They became curious when his medical provider said this was not true, and due to other inconsistencies in statements made by Joseph.
Police found Jackie’s car in DeKalb County, where police say Joseph had towed it and hid it.
The hammer reportedly used to kill Jackie has not been found. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said he dumped it at the Keltenberg Community Center.
DCSO said they found Jackie’s body in a grave six feet wide, ten feet long and six feet deep. He said a contractor had dug the pit for the burn pit on December 16 on Joseph’s request.
Joseph Glynn is in the Davidson County Jail on $1,030,000 bond. He is also accused of abuse of a dead body and tampering with evidence. His first scheduled court date is Tuesday morning.
