Fairphone, the sustainable smartphone manufacturer, has made a significant leap forward in the audio sector with the introduction of its first-ever earbuds – the Fairbuds. Characterized by their modular-design, they are designed with user-replaceable parts, which can be easily swapped if they break down.
The Fairbuds are designed to deliver crystal clear calls indoors and outdoors, thanks to the environmental noise canceling (ENC) feature. They are equipped with six microphones, ensuring that every word is captured with precision. Moreover, the multipoint Bluetooth connectivity allows users to connect the Fairbuds with two devices simultaneously.
One of the most striking features of the Fairbuds is their modular design, which allows users to replace seven different parts if needed. This includes new earbuds, battery and silicon ring, earbud tips, charging case shell, case core, and the case’s battery. All these spare parts can be easily obtained from the Fairphone webshop for users residing in Europe.
The Fairbuds house a 45mAh battery, while the charging case comes with a 500mAh battery capacity. According to Fairphone, the earbuds can last for six hours on a full charge, with an additional 20 hours of power packed into the charging case. For those quick, on-the-go charging needs, the Fairbuds can provide 1.5 hours of playback time in just ten minutes.
The Fairbuds have an IP54 rating, proving their resistance to sweat and water. They are ideal for those workout sessions or even a walk in the rain. The earbuds and their cases are constructed using 70% recycled “fair materials”.
The Fairbuds seamlessly integrate with Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri, offering the convenience of hands-free usage.
Fairphone’s Fairbuds are priced at €149 and are available for pre-order from April 9th. They can be purchased from the Fairphone website and selected European retailers. The price may vary across different countries in Europe. The earbuds are available in two color options – white and black.
Fairphone provides a three-year warranty on the Fairbuds, a year more than their usual two-year warranty plan.
